Instructor-Led In-Person Training

An in-person training led by an instructor with hands-on practice

This training was designed to equip participants with the essential skills and knowledge needed to navigate, troubleshoot, and maintain copiers effectively, ensuring a seamless and productive document management experience within the school environment.

Overview

I designed and developed this instructor-led in-person training to equip individuals working in a school environment with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively operate multi-function printers, also known as copiers. This training was created to be used by a knowledgeable copier service technician to provide hands-on training to school staff.

Process

I enlisted the aid of two copier technicians, who acted as my subject matter experts (SMEs). We collaborated to identify the essential training topics for school staff regarding the efficient utilization of their copiers. I also collaborated with my SMEs to develop the content for the training slideshow, including the speaker notes. These were crafted using Google Slides and include detailed step-by-step procedures complemented by visual aids. Both the facilitator and participant guides were created using Google Docs and all visuals were created using Canva, Creative Commons images, and Adobe Express.

Results and Takeaways

Going through the process from collaborating with SMEs to creating a step-by-step slide show with visual aids was very challenging, but rewarding. I practiced utilizing both instructional design theory and visual design while leveraging different software programs. What I learned throughout the process of creating this training will help me create other future in-person professional development classes that will benefit a myriad of businesses and organizations.
