Interactive Multimedia Elements

A website showcasing various interactive multimedia elements

This website I created was designed to demonstrate the myriad of ways that concepts and skills can be taught to adult learners, including the use of interactive multimedia.

Overview

I designed this website to showcase the different ways adult learners can be taught concepts and skills using various multimedia elements such as text, sound, still image, animation, video, and combinations of both video and text, and animation and text.

Process

I utilized Google Sites for my interactive multimedia elements showcase. First, I began by choosing the simple, yet captivating topic of winter. I used open educational resources (OER) to find quotes and searched images, videos, sounds, and animations under the creative commons license and attributed each resource accordingly. The top menu features simple, clickable titles that link to each multimedia element, and each page is visually engaging and appealing.

Results and Takeaways

Creating a website showcasing multimedia elements for adult learners yields numerous benefits. By integrating text, sound, animations, and video, the site engages users, catering to diverse learning styles and enhancing interest. Multimedia facilitates effective concept demonstration, improving retention through the utilization of visual and auditory channels. The flexibility offered allows learners to choose their preferred format, fostering accessibility. Real-world applications, user interaction features, and feedback mechanisms contribute to practical skill development and community building. The site also shows budding instructional designers a simple way to begin the process of using multimedia elements in their adult learning course design and creation.
